With almost three decades of professional service, Judith Johnson has successfully completed a diverse range of projects for the for-profit and non-profit sector as well as public sector clients in the Mid-South area including Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Alabama. Her specialty is commercial buildings and she has placed many properties from the recent past on the National Register of Historic Places. Ms. Johnson is a proven advocate for her client's interest and is skilled at finding creative and practical solutions for complicated projects.
Experience
Ms. Johnson served as the Director of the City of Albany Division of Neighborhood Revitalization, worked as an architectural historian with the Idaho Transportation Department, is the former executive director of Memphis Heritage, Inc. and served as historic preservation analyst for the City of Memphis Division of Housing and Community Development as well as working as Survey Coordinator for the City of Memphis Cultural Resources Survey. She also performed an historical asset survey of sites important to the Civil Rights Movement in the Mississippi Delta.
Education
Bachelor of Arts in Art History with Honors, Memphis State University plus 30 hours of master’s level credit which meets the Secretary of the Interior’s standards for an architectural historian. Successful completion of NPI Seminars: Introduction to 106; Section 106 Agreement Documents; Section 4(f) Compliance for Transportation Projects, Identifying and Recording Mid-century Cultural Resources. Ms. Johnson holds a Tennessee real estate broker license currently and spent five years developing affordable housing for the City of Memphis.
